How CashCub Works

What is CashCub?

CashCub is a simple ledger for tracking a kid's allowance: it doesn't connect to a real bank account, and no real money ever moves through it. A parent sets a weekly allowance that's automatically split into Spending, Saving, and Giving, and each kid can log in on their own to check their balances. Kids can also choose to put part of their savings into a simulated S&P 500 investment that tracks the real stock market, as a safe way to learn what investing feels like.

For Parents

  1. Register with your email to create your parent account.
  2. From the Parents page, click Add Kid to set up each kid: their weekly allowance, the Spending/Saving/Giving split, an optional interest rate on savings, and a PIN they'll use to log in.
  3. Allowance is applied automatically — there's nothing to run each week. Any allowance (and, if invested, market return) that accrued since your last visit is caught up the next time you log in.
  4. From the Parents page you can also adjust any kid's balances directly (add, subtract, or set an exact amount), transfer money between a kid's accounts, and change settings at any time.

For Kids

  1. From the home page, choose Kid Login.
  2. Enter your parent's email, pick your name, and enter your PIN.
  3. Your dashboard shows your Spending, Saving, and Giving balances, a chart of your balance history over time, and your recent transactions.
  4. You can change your own PIN any time from your dashboard.

Investing in the S&P 500

Part of a kid's Saving balance can be moved into Stocks - S&P 500 right from their dashboard. Money there grows or shrinks along with the real S&P 500 index, calculated automatically — it can go down as well as up, just like real investing. Money can be moved back and forth between Guaranteed Return savings (a fixed interest rate set by the parent) and Stocks - S&P 500 any time.
